Salts Cottage was originally built for James Salt, pilot for the harbour, in 1924. The current owners have refurbished the cottage over recent years and completed Pepper Pot, a separate self-contained studio below the cottage, in 2022.

Salts Cottage sits in it’s own private walled garden and has a large front balcony with uninterrupted views across the harbour to Fowey. The cottage has two bedrooms - a king size double and a twin.

Pepper Pot is separately accessed and sits beneath Salts Cottage. The fully self-contained studio, with a king size double, has it’s own balcony that is within touching distance of the water.

Both properties are accessed via a steep set of winding steps that descend to the garden and then down again to the harbour’s edge and private steps into the water.

Polruan

Polruan is a typical Cornish seaside village, located on the south coast of Cornwall, that sits at the mouth of the River Fowey.

Two pubs, a cafe and a convenience store provide the essentials for those who don't want to cross the river to Fowey with it's wide range of shops and restaurants.

Fowey Harbour

There is always something to watch as the Fowey estuary remains busy as both a working and recreational harbour.

This includes the Polruan ferry going to and from Fowey, dinghy races, fishing boats, gig racing, visiting yachts or a china clay ship picking up a cargo from the docks upriver.

Direct Water Access

The properties have private steps into the water, the shared use of paddle boards and kayaks and a running line for boats up to 6 metres in length.

Guests often rent small boats for their stay and use this as their means of going across to Fowey as well as going up river to Lerryn, Golant, or Penmarlam - please ask for details.

The cliffs, paths and inland fields on both the Polruan and Fowey sides of the Fowey estuary are all National Trust owned and maintained. The South West coast path passes within 50 metres of the house and there is an abundance of walking options, in…
